I just purchased a new computer and my IT person loaded Windows 7 onto it. Prior to adding Lightroom, it worked fine. Once I added Lightroom, all heck broke loose. It statred freezing up, I couldn't open programs and Lightroom kept freezing. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Eco,
I'm not much help here but am curious, is this a Beta release of 7? Not sure if 7 has even been released.

It's not the Beta release. I realize it hasn't been officially released yet, but my IT consultant has an advanced copy (to the best of my knowledge).

I've been using Lightroom 2 and Windows 7 RC1 for months with no problems.

The question is, do you have an RTM version of Windows 7 and when you say Lightroom do you mean Lightroom 2?

I'm not sure anything should have changed between RC1 and RTM but it's possible.

I've been running LR 2.4 on Win 7 RC (64 bit) for over 2 months now. No issues to speak of, except the sticky, reverting to auto-import bug that affects Vista 64bit as well.

Windows 7 was RTM last week and Technet and MSDN subscribers should now have their official Windows 7 discs.

Actually it was released on Technet and MSDN on August 6....I've been running Windows 7 since then and there's been zero problems with Lightroom 2.4.

Thanks for the replies. I have yet to have a session on my computer that lasts more than a few minutes before it doesn't "respond" or freezes totally. With the replies, it looks like I may have a few more issues than just Lightroom.

I want to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista, but want to make sure Photoshop cs4 and all the plugins will work with it before doing it. Any of you had any compatibility problem with software or hardware?

Sounds like your system isn't supported by updated drivers. If new drivers don't help, best option is to reinstall and add things in some order until you can determine what is destabilizing the system.

Windows 7 is technically not yet released, and while there are RTM (release to manufactor/market) versions floating around, it is possible you have been given a Beta or Release Candidate version, both of which are pre-release test versions that may not be stable on all systems.

The easiest fix would be to buy a copy of Windows Vista, with a free upgrade to Windows 7.
Make sure you get the same version of Vista that want in Windows 7, and you can do the upgrade with out having to re-install.

Vista is now well established, stable and reliable providing you have good stable and reliable hardware to run it on.

I'm running Win7 RC and PS CS4 with LR2 and I have no OS related issues at all.

As suggested, it's not an issue with LR... Must be something else. Might ask your IT buddies to reload it (again) for you...

I'm running Win7 RTM (I'm a technet/MSDN subscriber) and LR 2.4 and Photoshop CS4 and have zero problems...

Good luck!
