In my G2, the LCD does not display any image in the dark (especially shooting outside in the night) .... is this a usual feature or something is wrong with my camera

it should... are you sure you just didn't take a dark picture?

I think he means the display with your exposure and the like on it which isn't backlit in any way on the G2 unfortunately, any idea if it was fixed on the G3?
