These shots are from a couple of games that took place this weekend between the Tier II Jr. A Wentachee Wild of the NAHL and the Tier III Jr. A Missoula Maulers of the Norpac. All shot through dirty glass with a 70-200 at 2.8 and either iso 1600 or 3200. One game had a bit more light as it was an afternoon game and the sunlight adds some light and plenty of glare. Comments and criticism appreciated.

JP:

Nice to see hockey making its way back in the forums. Nice shots but the ice looks too "hot" in many. Do you use Lightroom? If so, the Gradient Filter Tool is great for dialing back the ice without affecting the exposure on player face and upper uniform. You drag it up from the bottom and can then reduce exposure (and other settings) on just the portion of the photo (ie mainly the ice) you drag it up over. I find it very handy for my hockey shots where a proper exposure on the player results in blown out ice.

Thanks for the tip with using the gradient filter in Lightroom. I will give it a try and see how it works out for me. Looking forward to seeing more hockey in this board as well.

Here, here! Being from the State of Hockey, more puck pics is a good thing! You did very well. It's difficult to shoot when the back drop is bright, white ice.
