I tried to get a shot of these Ospreys at the end of the day. The sun was setting and the lighting was difficult. I managed to get two that I could coax an image out of with PS. Not what I would call a great picture, but it sure is a great looking bird.
20D, 100-400mm, ISO 200, 1/320, f5.6
I am going to try again tomorrow. Any sugestions welcome, spot metering, shutter speed, etc.
Thanks

Both very good catches. Looks like maybe a little to much USM in the first pic as it created a halo affect.
For birds in flight I try to use close to 1/1000th shutter speed. Also unless the birds are flying along the horizon turn the IS off. If they are flying horizontally switch to mode 2 for panning.

Great shots; I tried to snap one yesterday while fishiing, but he was a bit too far off:
Seems they always have a better day fishing then I do!
