Wood Duck

I've been chasing ducks around for three weeks trying to get a good shot of a Wood Duck, 'cuz they're so colorful. Yesterday this one flew into range while I was shooting (D-60) a beaver. Timing is everything; luck is even better.

Beautiful shot. I too have spent many an hour on the water looking for a good shot of egrets or herons only to come home empty handed. Beautiful shot and great colors.

Nice shot ... beautiful bird! A shame that the water wasn't a little "glassier" ... your composition is excellent and would have captured an awesome reflection.
