Challenge #240 - Local Landmarks

For this week I want to see photographs from your local area of Landmarks that you probably see every day but maybe take for granted because they are just 'there'. For instance, I see Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument every day on my travel to and from work, but am ashamed to say I can count on one hand the amount of times I've headed to either armed with a camera :o. So, look again at your local area through new eyes and your camera lense!

The results!
#1 - Scooter49 - Gomez Mill
#2 - Maureen's Giant Redwoods
#3 - Fergie's Castle

Thanks for your entries - Fergie, I'm glad you found the time to participate despite being busy. Hope you had a great weekend in Glasgow (weather was great!) and look forward to seeing the photographic evidence!
Maureen - where are your redwoods? I've been to Yosemite - is that where they are? We have an 'Avenue of the sequoias' in a Botanical Garden near Dunoon but I don't think they are a match for yours.

Over to you Scooter - for Challange 241 - hope there are more players than this week!

Car, we live in Visalia "Gateway to the Sequoias". They are our most famous landmarks although we have a few less impressive ones around the area.

EDIT: Yosemite is 2 hours away and does not have the Giant trees.

Congrats to Scooter...loved the mill shot, and to Fergie who decided to enter, I am sure, after she saw my lone post all week :):)

Good job hosting, Car . . . low on quantity, but high on quality! Nice shots Scooter49, Maureen, and Fergie!

Sorry kids...my weekend wasn't my own and the photos I took, still reside inside the camera.

I had no idea that charming little mill lives so close to me. Someday I'll have to get over there.

Terrific photos, the three of you!

Same here; the kids occupied most of my photo challenge time. Carolyn's Local Landmarks was my favourite theme.

Congrats to the winners! All three of you! ;)

Got back home from my break and one of the first things I did was to check the results of the competition.
I was really pleased to see that I had won third place then became a bit crestfallen when I realised that I was in reality ...last.

My entry was a last minute decision and so I grabbed the camera at 10 pm on Saturday night and headed for the castle. Quickly fixed the camera to the tripod, set it to 'auto' with a 2 sec time delay and that was it.

Here is what it looks like in the daytime from more or less the same spot.

Cheers.

This one is far back from 2005 (have to visit Scotland again!) with my old S50. 22:21, 1/10s, hand hold.
