Installed Photoshop CS2 last week. I was looking at the new features and saw that the "Automated Photo Gallery" feature had been updated. The choices now include two "Flash" galleries. I quickley threw a few shots into a file and generated a gallery. What do you think?

I think this may meet my needs for a simple gallery to just feature some shots. Quick and easy and not a lot of fuss.

The initial look is nice and very simple, I like that.

However there are a number of things I don't like.

- transitions between photos take too long, maybe that is a setting You can change
- the itsy bitsy tiny thumbnails under the main photo are too smal and when they are expanded when the mouse is moved over it I don't like the way all the thumbs to the right are moving around. Thumbs are a great way to preview but I think they should be of a size that make it possible to see if You want to view the full picture and they should stay the same size.
- the flash code failed! I manged to get the code to stop working 2 times. On both occations the thumbs did not expand and it was not possible to select another photo

Just my opinion which might be biased since I don't like flash used for photo galleries in the first place.

It's quite a nice addition for PS, I'd like to see examples of the other automated galleries if you have time!

Personally i like the Simple Viewer for free and easy Flash galleries, although manual editing of the xml is a bit of a bind sometimes.

All true, but I don't think any of these factors are under my contronl. It seems that the only imput that I can influence is the size of the thumbs and large pictures and the background colors of the page. Everything else is in the hands of the Automation Feature. I found if the thumbs were too large they would run off of the page when the larger shot is rendered. The flash feature seems a bit buggy. It failed occasionally on me but not often enough to be concerned.

I also like Simple Viewer. I downloaded it some time ago and did not see one thing that held any meaning to me. Apache this Apache that. Obviously way over my head. Digital photography has burned up so much of my time with Photoshop, I have no desire to learn web page code. I would like to take pictures some time and be done with processing and displaying images. It is maddening sometimes

Took a look at your gallery. I really like the sweeping landscapes. You live in a very beautiful country.

To RobeKert,

Thanks for the remarks on my shots, Britain is a lovely place that holds so much potential when it comes to photography but so does the rest of the world and being photographers would'nt it be great if we could all get to it........?
