Just wondered what people thought if it was OK, when keeping your camera in a well padded camera bag, to have it lying on it's back (with the lens pointing up), rather than lying on it's bottom. Don't know if this would be bad for the camera. I have an SX10 and it fits a little better in the bag when stored lying on it's back. Any thoughts?

Yes, it's fine. Mine may be sitting in a bag with any end or side up, depending on what it's sharing space with.

I have my SX10 laying on it's back in the bag. It makes it easier to grab a hold of and takes up less space.

Hi gerrydee,

I notice from your signature that you have both an Sx 10, and an A720 IS.

I presently have, (and love) an A720IS, but thinking of upgrading to an SX 10.

May I ask you if you see any significant quality differences between the two cameras, when making prints 20 X 30 inches?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers from Halifax,

There is not a lot of difference in the picture quality between the SX10 and the A720. The A720 is just about the best pocket-able camera around and has the ability to go from Auto to TV, AV, Manual and produces excellent pictures and video.
It even does a great job in Macro mode and has a 6X zoom. You can also get an adapter and use filters and lenses with it.
Check out this comparison between the SX10 and the A720 here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/The%20A720%20is%20just%20about%20the%20best%20pock et-able%20camera%20around%20and%20has%20the%20ability %20to%20go%20from%20Auto%20to%20TV,%20AV,%20Manual %20and%20produces%20excellent%20pictures%20and%20v ideo.%20It%20even%20does%20a%20great%20job%20in%20 Macro%20mode%20and%20has%20a%206X%20zoom.%20Check% 20out%20this%20comparison%20between%20the%20two%20 HERE.).
The SX10 is so much DSLR-like and many people have downgraded from a DSLR to the SX10 because of it's ability to capture stunning pictures, comparable to an entry-level DSLR and has that huge 560mm Zoom and 28mm WA all in one package.
IMO, the SX10 is the best Super zoom on the market and you would have to step up to a full DSLR to get a better camera. It offers enormous potential for developing your photographic skills.

I hope this helps you,
Gerry
