What are your ideal shooting positions when using something like 300/400mm f2.8 with flash for night time high school games?
Generally what I find is that the plays don't last much like in college/nfl level and I find very hard to isolate players. Most of the time you get bunch of guys piled on each other.
Being handicapped I can't run along the sidelines and from my shooting soccer experience, being put at one spot helps me get better pictures. I will move along the sidelines as in football action is slower and more predicatble than in soccer and also for night time games, I am restricted in the range I can shoot over when using flash. But usuaully action happens on the wrong side from where I am.
What do you guys do? Do you stay put or move along with the ball? I would imagine that if you using something like 70-200mm, you have no choice but to move but what with say 300/400mm f2.8?
