Hello everyone! This is my first post with pics. I just bought a Canon 50D and my first lens is the 70-200 2.8L IS. Im just learning how to use everything and this is my first shots of the moon EVER! so any feedback appreciated. Thanks!

You're off to a good start. I can give you a couple of hints based, in particular, on your first shot.

Don't trust the exposure meter! It won't work for the moon, it'll overexpose every time due to being faked out by a very bright object against a large and very dark background.

Set your ISO to 100, put the aperture where it's sharpest (about f/8?) then start with about 1/20 second and work your way to about 1/1000 second. Somewhere in there will be the perfect exposure.

Also, turn your temperature to 4000K instead of auto and it won't be so red.

Thanks everyone. The second shot came out a bit red because it was at the prime of the California fires and it made it look like that.
