Not sure what this thing is called but I've noticed it hanging about in the night sky quite a bit recently and some of the locals around here have been pointing at it with a confused look on their faces. So I thought I'd test my new (well used but new to me) 100-400L on it.
My settings were a bit off but I think it was a decent effort.

A little soft on focus but being a zoom it's understandable . Use a little USM and it will look sharper .

I think it's called "The Night Sun"! But I still don't understand how the little man in the magic box that people call a "camera" is able to paint so quickly such a good likeness of what you point his magic eyeglass at.
