Hello,

I asked a similar question on a different website and didn't get any real help, so, I hope to here. I recently purchased an S410 from Amazon. After playing with the camera for about 30-40 shots, I noticed that when using the viewfinder, not the lcd, that there appears to be a darkish curved spot in the lower-left hand corner of the viewfinder. This does not appear on the actual photos. It has almost a greyish-coffee color to it. It appeared that it was something that can't be cleaned on the exterior - i.e. fingerprint or dust. Amazon sent me a replacement camera and it has the same thing! - do I need glasses or does anyone here who has an S410 - do you see the same thing? Thanks in advance for any info.

Steve

I don't have anything like that. But the viewfinder lens is really crummy. It's all distorted. I would chalk it up to crappy manufacture.

I have an S400 and have not seen anything like that. Could it be the angle at which you are viewing? Do other people see this or is it just you?

Hi - I have had a couple of people see this. I guess it is weird manufacturing defect in the viewfinder - I was more shocked when the replacement camera had the same thing - I also forgot to mention oen key thing - I ONLY see this when the lens is at its widest angle and you use the viewfinder - as soon as you extend the lens, that dark image is gone - perhaps part of the lens' outer edge is "clipping" the viewfinder?
