The smaller version is outstanding (large one shows too much grain)!! Your goldfinches certainly don't have much in common with ours ...

thats a very nice shot.
But how is that a goldfinch? Doesn't have any "gold" on it ... maybe a copperfinch :-P (judging by the color on the feathers)
