Wedding Album (Book) Question:

Hello Everyone:

I am talking to a bride-to-be for a Christmas wedding. She asked me if I can do a wedding album for her. I said I'd look into that.

What are my options when it comes to designing an album that is above average quality? I am aware of Luma Pix, however never used anything like it. Are there any similar products? Never having done anything like this before, I really don't know anything about making wedding books. I know about books from iPhoto, Blurb, Shutterfly, and the like; I am just not sure if the quality would be up to par for a sophisticated bride.

Oh, BTW, I am a Mac user.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's exceptionally unlikely that your first album will be exceptional, album designing is difficult and a skill that took me a long time to learn. For one album I suggest you outsource to a place like Modern Album Designs (google them), they might be able to have the physical album made too. If not then try KISS wedding albums, they're meant to be nice, and reasonably priced.

Thanks, Tim. No, you're right. I will not be able to produce an exceptional album on my first try; it's not very likely. But I do want to make sure the bride is at least happy with the end product.

Just curious. When you design an album, do you use the software provided by album company (as I recall you use Queensberry) or the third party software like FotoFusion?

I use PhotoJunction, provided by Queensberry. It's free for anyone to use with any album company now. It has its quirks and there's a bit of a learning curve but overall it's a good tool.

+1 For Photojunction.

My Mrs does most of our initial layouts and used Fotofusion before she started using Photojunction and she initially hated PJ, didn't find it that intuitive and some features quite annoying.

6 months on and she loves PJ more than the other packages she uses now (Fotofusion and Graphi software) because its like a good accounts package, it restricts you from doing some things for good reason.

Photojunction + Queensberry is a great combo now, the software has been developed quite a lot recently and it now makes the album ordering process very straight forward. We used to expect a few queries with each album we submitted but the software does lots of checks and reports now before you even send it so most of our albums sail straight through to production.
