Is that a bad thing?

I have a suspicion it's a jealousy thing, getting such a nice B&W through the lens. ;) Very nice work. Our fire trucks aren't nearly as impressive here.

Nice rich tones! Hey, being from California, I've always wondered about the three lights above the radiator grill. Are those your steady reds? Do they turn-if so, how fast?

I'll bite....why? You can easily convert color to black and white....but there is no way to turn black and white in to color.

Is that a bad thing? Dan said it, "You can easily convert color to black and white....but there is no way to turn black and white in to color."
How many times have you forgotten to change the settings on your camera? So you've picked up the camera & lucked out & got a once in a lifetime image. Getty says, "We'll pay you $50,000 for the color image..."
CF cards are cheap. Don't shoot B&W.

Ahh some good points here... I did take one in color, but it didn't look good once I got it downloaded. The B&W turned out much better..

Thanks..

Sure seems to have a Sepia tint to it on my Samsung monitor, but I'll take your word for it.

Ahhh the Roto-Ray! What a beautiful thing! It is an East Coast thing, made in eastern Virginia and is mostly found on apparatus in eastern Virginia, Maryland and the DC area, although a few have found their way across the Mississippi.

The Roto-Ray has 3 steady burning lights which can be found in many different combinations. The light spins and is a very effective warning device.

Here is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfZLALehScw&feature=related

It is an old school/tradition thing, however "updated" versions are not available that include LED lighting.

BucketMan,
Thanks for the reply. The video did a great job of showing the Roto-Ray in action. Neat-now I want one!
