Hi all - really interested in your thoughts on this.

I have a few personal issues with it, but I like aspects of it too.

Canon Eos 20D, Sigma 50mm f1.4

Thanks

Phil

I like it.
If I were to nitpick it seems there may be a little halo effect around the smoke stack/pipe, but that comes up alot with exposure touch-ups and HDR shots. It is not very noticeable here.

I like it; did you crop the image?

No I don't think so - maybe very slight rotation to get the chimney at the right angle which will have cropped a tiny amount off. Is their something about it that made you think it might have been cropped?

Nice composition, I would suggest darkening the sky reflection to match the exposure in the "real" sky.

That may be a good idea. I found myself moving the picture on my screen to crop that area out and balance the picture. Darkening that part may provide the balance while retaining the reflection.

Thanks for the suggestion - I tried this in lightroom, but the lighter area next to the nearest barge started to look really odd - hmm.

Looking at the pic, I felt that there was some %age of crop. If there was no margianl crop - more kudos to you :)
