of my car. First one is from the inside thru the glass:

I got out of the car and tried for a clear shot, but s/he saw me and started running.

Now that's a cute spider, a jumping spider I believe. The first one is very good.

The first one is pretty good. A wide appeture may have given you more DOF, bit close work like that will always be limited.

Thanks Paul, Citizen, Sandi.
Pretty sure it did jump, now that you mention it.
I need to experiment with the aperture in supermacro mode. Might have helped both of them, though I think the biggest problem with #2 is motion blur.

YUCK!!! Sorry, but me and spiders clash!!! Good shot of the first one though. If I had taken the picture, it would have been his/her last. Can't help it, built in aversion to spiders I guess. DARN!!! Now you've got me looking everywhere to make sure there are none around!!

Cute?! Now children are cute. Birds can be cute (both kinds!!). Little puppies can be cute. BUT a spider?!?!?! Spiders make me run!! It is a great shot.

Nice close-up shots! I like #1, against a green background. Too bad, #2 would have been a great picture if s/he could stay still.

Thanks Richard, Manny, Ben, CFC for the comments.Nice close-up shots! I like #1, against a green background. Too bad, #2 would have been a great picture if s/he could stay still.Concerning the green background, my location was fortunate - trees just a few meters away. I really hoped the top view would be better since it wasn't thru glass. But I suppose any creature with sense would run when it sees a huge lens closing in.

It's a SHE! See that black blob at the anterior-most part of her abdomen, that's her epigynum. That's all I best say about it lest this thread gets pornographic.
