How do I remove the date from the home page in EE 1.5 RC4? If I don't update the date every day and days or weeks pass, the date stays at the last time I manually changed it......and that could be weeks ago. I would just like to get rid of the date on the home page altogether.

Yes...the date in the News section. I want to keep the News but get rid of the date permanently.

sorry for the long delay... life has had me busy elsewhere...
to remove the date from the news section would require some editing of the script... i'm not sure where... however, i'm a tad confused from your original comment... the news section can have numerous items of news interest in it... you add them as you make new ones... i used to add a new one on certain holidays and birthdays... added a special one when president reagan died... i never edited an old news item to make a new one...
or am i to understand that you do create new news items and just don't want dates added to them? how are your visitors to know when a new one has been added?

Thanks for the response wkitty42. I rarely never add news. My objective was to keep the layout the same with the column on the right but remove the date permanently. If the date is not changed manually every day it does not change. Thus.....if I didn't go into EE's news editor for a few weeks to change the date some people would see the date as being old and think that no new photos have been added.

ahhh... i understand... however, the news doesn't have anything to do with the adding of photos... news bulletins are not related to photos other than being another part of the program... you can set the system to display random new photos if you like... i don't think there is an automatic item that states anything about "X new photos added since your last visit"... that would require setting a cookie, i think... that would be a nice feature, though... maybe pekka has that in the next version?
when i was using the news item, i would generally add a small blurb about new photos with a link to them or at least a pointer to which gallery they are in... if you don't do anything to the display ordering of photos, EE generally lists the new photos first in the thumbs and microthumbs displays... this has caused me a few troubles as i like my photos to tell a story and when i'd add new photos, they would appear first instead of at the end as i desired... but then there are some exhibits in my gallerys where i do want new photos listed first...
another option would be to have photos displayed in more than one exhibit... IIRC, this is pretty easy to do and you could have a "new photos" exhibit that the photos are displayed in as well as their main exhibit... then after a week or two of being in listed in the "new photos" exhibit, you'd just go thru and remove them from that exhibit... just an idea that might be something to consider...

that's because you don't have any news items in the news database... if you have any news items, their date of entry is listed right under their headline ;)
