Hi - I just received an Expodisc and would like to hear about experiences using this device for White Balance.

For example, I want to photograph school band concerts, stage plays where I would like the colors to be as accurate as possible, etc. In most locations, the stage front lighting is coming from ceiling recesses so I can't aim the Expodisc toward the light. Any suggestions? In this case, I could probably shoot several shots with different Kelvin settings and try to "find" the best. So, did I waste the money on the Expodisc? Is it a good tool to have "in the bag?"

That was a specific, but I would really like to hear about other applications and techniques. While good, Auto White Balance is a compromise at best.

If this was not posted in the correct Forum, a suggestion on where I would get the most responses would also be appreciated.

I should mention, "why the Expodisc" and explain that I would prefer not to do post-processing to correct the White Balance - I know it can be done, but taking the shots is more fun that working in the digital darkroom.

Thanks very much.
