The tragic death of Magic Dirt's Dean Turner and their subsequently canceled tour left me free on Saturday to get to the Ed Castle to catch Lyla. I'd previously met Stefan (keys) a couple of times before and had been wanting to see his band since then, so what better night than at the Ed Castle as they launch their new single!

Photography at the Ed really stinks. The lighting is notoriously woeful, and I even rocked some flash for fill at one point, although trying to find space to get my arm out and up with the off cam flash was tricky as the fans were packed in tight right up to the stage!

Tough lighting. They look like they're lit by the headlights of a car.

I like #2 and the last.

Mic is a bit in the way in #1 IMO.

nice set. love the tones on 04 and 05, great vintage five. 01 would be the best if not for the mic shadow. I would try to dodge [lighten] the shadows and face to make it stand out more and blur the mic.

No... I was echoing your comment about the stage lighting being less than ideal at the Ed.
The first shot he is getting blasted square in the face!
It was a real challenge well met for you to capture without losing too much into the glare.
