Canon Rebel G 35mm-- developing?

So, here are some pictures I got from my camera... the only down-side to this camera (like all film camera) is that it's a little grainy & having to get it developed all the time... but, I DO plan on upgrading as soon as I get the money... whenever that will be. Until then, I think this camera will work just fine.

I haven't been on here for a while, but I recently turned 17... I've been an aspiring photographer for years, and finally found a pretty good camera. I got it for hobby photography, as well as for the college newspaper.

I recently bought a Canon Rebel G (EOS) from a pawn shop (I know, I know :rolleyes:) and have until the 17th to make sure everything works okay. The camera cost $150-- it has a 38-300mm Tamron lense attached.

I went to Walmart and bought some 35mm film, came home, and I've taken a few shots of some wildlife around the house (a black bear cub a few miles from my house)... but anyway, what is the average cost of developing film? And is there a way to get it put onto CD's? I have no idea what to expect from 35mm cameras and how developing works... so any information would be great.

I had one recently bought after My DSLR. To have the film developed with a photo CD cost $11(1 hour service) at my local CVS pharmacy for 1 roll (basically the same price as my 4GB SD card). I sold it because of the cost of film + developing. Personally, I think you got a bad deal. The one I had was bought for around $50 with a 28-80 lens.

$11 per roll of film isn't too bad to me. This was the only thing I could find in my price range... being a college student doesn't leave me with a lot of money. I plan on reverting back to digital once I have the money to buy a nice camera with a manual lense... like a Nikon D90 or something of that sort. Where I'm at in starting my photography hobby/career, I don't need anything too fancy (or expensive)... I just want to be able to have control over my focal points without spending a crap load of money on a camera that I don't know how to work or use. I just want simple, inexpensive, with good quality. It might've been a bad deal price-wise, but it's what I was looking for overall. Thank you.

I also would agree that you likely got a bad deal with repect to the camera you are buyinh, not the cost of developing. $11 to about $14 is the norm, $11 perhaps being for 24 exposures and $14 for 36.

Do a bit of searching on eBay to get a better feel for the value of that camera and then see if you can get the shop where you bought it to come down. These shops give very little in trade-in, in fact it is token value of like $50 unless the camera is a kit with some nice lenses, etc. The Tamron is an OK lens, but doesn't fit the category of a "nice" lens. I personally feel you should be able to get this camera/lens combo for less than $100.

The auction expires around 7 PM today West Coast time. Even if you miss this auction, go back to the pawn shop armed with the final price. That is a vastly superior lens to the Tamron.
