Just started taking pictures. Not a pro yet. But really looking forward to it.
The 1st pic is the first picture I ever took with my Digital Rebel XT. He's about 9 months here. :D
2nd Pic are 4-5 weeks boxer puppies that my wifes uncle had. I think the picture is a little blurry but I liked their pose :)
Let me know what you guys think.

100lbs. of cuteness (unless of course you're a cat or an old lady with a grocery cart, then all bets are off!) :D

I want to be a better photographer too! Im really in no position to give critisism, Im still learning it all myself lol With the first one I would have like to have seen the tip of his tongue and maybe would have cropped a bit off the left side so the fence pole was not in the shot? Thats just my opinion tho..

I'm no pro either but I think the first one would be better in portrait than in landscape. The dog's face is long rather than wide and the cut off tongue bothers me. I agree with Skade on the fence post - backgrounds mess all of us up and you have to train yourself to check the background which is hard to do (at least for me). Maybe you could have moved to the left a bit to get the post out of the frame. I'd like to see all of their paws in the second shot. You're getting in close to your subjects and that's very good. The mark of a snapshot is a small subject surounded by a huge meaningless background.

Learning to "see" photographically has been the hardest for me. I know a good shot when I see it but not nesissarily when I take it.

Keep hanging out here and you'll learn (and blow through your bank account) fast. Check out the Critiques section to learn about the really nit-picky stuff as well as the basics.

Yeah, I see what you guys mean about the background. It does bother. I'll see if I can get a full pic of him next time. Thanks again guys.
