Hi all,

Just started getting into HDR & I notice some shots really show up dust & yet my sensor looks perfect through my sensor loupe. I've given it a wet-clean now to be sure, but is there something about HDR that highlights dust spots? They're not obvious in single shots.

Thanks

Phil

Tonemapping an image, a process that is necessary for HDR datasets, will often drastically enhance local contrast, as certain tonemappers are written to do just that. The same issue you are having with dust spots other people have with noise from shooting at high iso. I suppose, depending on your workflow, you could batch clone out/heal the spots in LR or ACR before saving the image sequence and running it through the HDR app of your choice.

Thanks for the response - before HDR I've only ever seen artefacts from dust particles that were visible using my sensor scope.
