I searched Google a lot but could not find any article online which talks about good borders for photographs.

Are there any guidelines or rules one could follow with regards to general % width, colors, lines, etc?

For example, what kind of border would you recommend for images in flickr album with white background like this one of mine: Flickr: Fug Li's Photostream (http://fug.li/)

Thanks!

P.S.: I will be using Aperture and its plug-in BorderFX for creating the borders.

No rules, what ever you like. I use 720px on the long end with a 5 px black border and top it off with my logo on the bottom right side. That's for all of my photos on all of the forums.

For my website I use 600px and no border/logo. I do use a border using CSS....this way I can change all of my photos with one code.
