More views from the Applecross Peninsula both taken with 24-70.
This location is part way up the Pass of the Cattle. A lovely spot for picnics :)

The last one with the storm is very neat! I also like the first one as well.

While I wouldn't dispute that the first and last are good, my favourite is the second one, with the bridge. It kind of frames the water behind it, while the photo also has the foreground interest too.

Beautiful shots, Trevor.
Nos. 3 & 4, would they be shot from Poll Creadha, a bay just south of Applecross.
It's about 10 years since I've been to Applecross, magnificent scenery.
Sometimes I wonder why people want to holiday in Spain, Greece etc.......then it rains and I know why.

Those are stunning. I do in fact like the 2/3 waterfall composition on the first one better.
The last image is very interesting.

Trevor,
Shots 1 and 4 - they show the drama of Scotland - if it wasn't for the rain I wouldn't enjoy my visits to the highlands.
Great captures

David

how do you get that slow shutter effect (where the water white wash looks creamy/hairy/spray) without making the photo come out way to bright? :\
i've got a IXUS 30 with ISO, exposure and whitebalance adjustable along with all the other preset's.
is this effect only capable with other cameras?
i tried it with the local creek and it just came out WAY to bright,
i did ISO 50 - shutter +2. just before sunrise.
hrm.
i'm getting jealous of fancy cameras :P

Hi MattyB
I use Aperture Priority and a 3 stop neutral density filter. Adjust the aperture until I get the speed I want. To prevent the whites burning out, I drop the exposure by between -2/3 and -1.5 stops. One thing that helps with this camera is the ability to reduce the 'ISO' to 50. It gives me a little more control.
Its then a case of using a photo editor to adjust the shadows/highlights and the usual sharpening, and now thanks to Lomond, who put me on to a tutorial by Meerkat17 (thanks;) ), contrast masking, which really helps add some 'zing' to the images:D
Thanks again to each of you for all the generous comments, it gives me the incentive to carry on, and of course, spend more money on new kit!!
