The EAA plane was here in St. Louis for the weekend, took the ride on Saturday, went back on Sunday to try to catch a decent shot, only got one pass before I ran out of time. I waited about 45 minutes, and it was still parked when I got bored and left!

Thanks for posting this. My late uncle Tom was a bush pilot and ran a flying service in Orofino, Idaho. He once travelled to Detroit and flew one of these all the way back out west.

Thanks,
It was cool to see, and to ride in. This was the plane featured in the movie Public Enemies that came out this summer. They told us there are only 4 still flying that they are aware of!

Nice shot Mike. The Experimental Airplane show use to hit my town every summer for a couple weeks. My Dad paid for a ride for me in a Tri-motor when I was a kid, the summer of 1958. I still remember every minute of it. It was a rattle trap. :)

HAHA, yeah, in some places. DC-3's were still very common in the 60's. I got transferred from San Diego and flew DC-3's all the way to North Carolina in 66. I could have flown a 707 then, but wanted to take the short flights out of interest in seeing what it was like. :)
