just got my rebel xt a week ago..
here's some pictures of the most gorgeous species on the planet... taken at the cincinnati zoo:

can anyone tell me what kind of rattlesnake this is? i can't seem to remember...

Have any bigger shots? I vote for "black tailed" at this point, but I sure would like to see the tail. ;)

It's hard to tell based on such a close up shot, but it's not a blacktail. Blacktail's (Crotalus Molossus) usually have a very prominent diaganol black stripe crossing their eyes, much more contrasting colors and a solid black tail.

Based on the limited bit I can see here, I'm guessing it's a Neotropical rattlesnake (Crotalus Durissus Durissus) though there are about 9 different sub-species of Crotalus Durissus.
