Here are a few examples of some pet portraits I did recently. Thought I'd throw them out to the wider world for some feedback and c&c :)

Awww...so cute! Composition and lighting wise, I like #2 the best.
I love the subject, Claudia, in photo #1 (her eyes are incredible) but I'm not digging the background. Cute kitties!

Thanks! Zinger is my favourite shot too and I totally agree about the background! She's a right little madam though and getting her to pose near the window took patience!

What kind of lense do you use? Wide angle or zoom? I do the same stuff - on location, natural lighting with a reflector. I like your second shot.......Looks photojournalistic!

For the first shot I used my EF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 IS USM, and my EF-S 17-85mm F/4-5.6 IS USM for the second shot. I've just upgraded to the 24-105 L and a 5D MK II, so I'll be using that from now on!

I was surprised at how slow your shutter was. Looks like you got away with it though...
The first has has a tiny bit of motion blur, but I had to search for it.:)
Beautiful animals...

Hehe I can cope with it if you have to search for it! They were very still cats for once and I steadied myself on the couch for the first one, but I do think the IS on the 17-85 efs is really good for an s lens.

The eye colours in the first are amazing! Great job on shooting at such a slow shutter, I would have had to bump the ISO to 400 for a clean shot.
I find the backgrounds distracting, especially the first, but sometimes you have to take what you get when shooting animals.
