Gentlemen,
your comments are welcome...

not a flattering picture of the guy, that's for sure. Doesn't scream Nascar either, as there's nothing in the photo that stands out to signify it. looks more like a picture of a guy at any random event.

the composition and lighting is done well, though

I like the composition but not the color balance. He looks almost ill. Needs less blue.

I'm thinking he was going for the 'desaturated' look a bit?

And wow......what a mug on that guy!
I want to comment on the "Nascar Fan" thing as I know exactly what your referring too, but I have some lost souled 'friends' who also take pleasure in watching a bunch of tv commercials drive around in a oval for 3 hours +!

hehe, yeah I decided it best to not comment on the real aspect of the "nascar fan" :p ;)

you got it down! "desaturated" look and "desaturated" life :)
I wasn't really into the race when I took this picture

Damn....this is just wrong! Why do I keep breaking out into a laugh when ever I scroll up to look at this! I'm gonna burn for sure. If he just wasn't making that little 'sneer' and showing those lovely teeth I would have passed right by. Cause I'm no Brad Pitt either!

Man, he looks, well, not well.....

But I have to say, you guys have got some nerve. I'm sure you can't just bash NASCAR and get away with it. Are you all sure you are anonymous?

Not trying to really 'bash' it out right. It's just hard to get into something where they just make like a thousand left turns, ya know? And I'm not sadistic enough to sit for 3 hours hoping that somebody wrecks!

Autograff,

I like it...lots!!!

the way the subject gets into your frame is nice, bokeh is nice (what lens, by the way?), expression in his face is fantastic, I think you captured the moment and it works for me...

thanx for sharing,
T.O.

Watch it now! (just kidding) I'm a big NASCAR fan. Something about it I just love. That is a great shot, but does not describe the NASCAR fan base. I've seen all types at the races. But NASCAR did begin as a REDNECK sport. I'll be one of those fans at the track for the October race here in Charlotte.

It made me think of the "slack jawed yokel" character on The Simpsons. LOL

There is something about NASCAR that bothers people. It cant be the form of the sport, I can thing of a lot of sports that are MUCH more boring/repetative.

Nascar draws some of the largest crowds of any sport and I think people just dont understand that. And what people dont understand they feel they must put down. That said the subject does look like he came from the shallow end of the gene pool, but thats not the typical NASCAR Fan.

I live just outside New Orleans and must say that the best party I have been to is a NASCAR race (Talladega). And some of the most beautiful women. Its not the same sport is was 20 years ago.

Please dont take this as a flame.

I know what you mean. I started with the SCCA and went to following the Formula 1 series but that was years ago. I remember watching my first NASCAR event and I thought how boring. Even the Indy has gotten to be just a NASCAR event with fancy cars...but those guys do love it!

No problem Lost! Point well taken.
They do indeed draw HUGE crowds, but usually in areas of the country where there's not a lot of anything else to do when there isn't any college football going on. But they've done a lot to make it more interesting for the people at home with all the 'in car' cameras and fancy flashing data scrolling around the screen. Yet there still just turning left. A buddy of mine had a "Daytona" party not too long ago and I tried my hardest to get into it......but after an hour I made my way to his 'den' area and played Halo against his kid for the remainder of the time!

"Hey! Get off my dirt farm!" :D

I think it's a great shot. 8) The guy has a lot of personality in his appearance, and the low saturation works well, IMO.
