S50 OR IXUS 500 OR G5 OR S1 IS

i am looking for a camera, the G5 might be too big, any advice on the cameras below would be grateful.

S50
IXUS 500
G5
S1 IS

if you had to pick 2 cameras, which two would you choose?

I would choose the S50 and the G5. Higher resolution and MUCH better image quality than the S1.

The S1 may have image-stabilization, but I've used a friends S1 on several occasions and the pics are nothing to write home about. The pics looked flat with no "punch" and the zoom lens only gives OK results out to 8x. Just my opinion. I presently shoot with a G6 so maybe I'm just spoiled :lol:. It'll be interesting to see what the S2 sample pics look like once they go on sale.

Good choice. In addition to my G6, I own the S400 which is similar to the S500 and I love it. I carry it with me everywhere.
