mostly because the 18-70 was what I like to call 'K' glass lol.

But anyway I ran a D50 then a Canon 30D then dropped down to the simple SD870 and now SD880.

But now for those off the cuff snapshots the iPhone 3GS camera is sufficient to serve as my pocket camera and video.

Now I'm thinking of replacing the SD880 with the G11 but I'm also thinking of perhaps instead the D50 with 18-70 lens.

I estimate the dSLR setup will end up $100-$150 more than the G11.

Thoughts?

There are a lot of used DSLR's in that price range,,, it's hard to say which one would be right for you.

I was thinking more along the lines of G11 vs dSLR.

just that the dSLR would most likely be the D50 setup

If size is of no concern you will probably get better pics and performance from the D50.

If portability is a priority the G11 would be a nice trade off.
