Hello -

I have an alienbees studio strobe flash with PC sync cord. I also have the PC sync hot shoe adapter and it works fine with my Canon Elan II film camera.

Will this set up work with the Canon G2 hot shoe ?
I would like to know before purchasing the G2.

thanks,
Dave

I have White Lightning Ultra 1800 strobes (same company as Alien Bees). They work well with my G3 when hooked up with a "Kaiser" hot shoe adapter.

I would suspect they are OK with the G2.

Dave,

I have an Alien Bees setup also and use the G2 with a basic hot shoe PC cord adapter. I have great success with the combination.

All studio images on my site were taken with that setup.

Good luck.

I have a set of Alien Bees B800's. I measured the flash sync voltage at approximately 5 volts DC. You should be just fine with virtually any hotshoe/PC adapter that fits.

I use a Wein Safe Sync adapter, but that's because some of the flash units in my collection have higher sync voltages. Some have 12 volt triggers, and one has about 180 volts at the PC tip. My Alien Bees work perfectly with the Wein Safe Sync, too.
