During a walk I see this car:

I think is a USA car so perhaps someone could give me some information.
The writing is:
Riviera
while on the radiator there is an R.
Note:
On my city the probabilty to see "true" USA car are more low then see sport car as Ferrari, Porshe, Lamborghini, etc.

Looks like a customised 70's Buick Riviera to me.
Maybe a '71

Many thanks. :)
Do you think you could said some word about:
- the level of diffusion, during his era?
- a bit of history?
Was a success model? Or not?
Was, for his era, a good model but not appreciated? Or only average?
Someone has had this car or has the desired it?
I'm curious to know the "eventual" feelings about this car from american people because now i see the history from the official site:
buick riviera (http://www.buick-riviera.com/history.html)
and I don't find it sufficient.

It's a pity that I did not even take a photo to his particular "tail" but i was a little in hurry.
Yes thanks for the link but if possible i would known the sensation of people rather than technical but a little "aseptic" information.

Buick Rivieras are mid-size luxury cars. Some people like them, some people don't. They're mass produced but so is pretty much every other car that normal people can afford. A basic model is more likely to be drive by a grandmother than her teenage grandson, but there are certainly hotter models that are nice looking and have power behind them. They're heavy cars though. They're nothing like a modern..well...anything. I'm not sure what more you would want to know, or what else there even is to know.

I think he is talking "cooler" or better models of Buicks. An example of a "hotter" model. Would be this Buick Grand National http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buick_Regal#Grand_National.2C_T-Type_and_GNX
P.S. forza Kimi. :D

I hope no. :p
"Cooler" are only girl.
Another question:
in USA there is a large use of big car even now, or the trend is changing due to economic crisis?

Our small cars are still nowhere near as small as Europe and Asia's small cars. We have too many highways with huge tractor-trailers for those microcars to be safe.

The Buick Riviera, is a somwhat unusual even for an American Car. There are not really any cars quite like it. The Riv was big, but not particularly roomy.
My very favorite feature is the back window. Just like the 64 Vette, the window has an aircraft style window and is really cool. I don't really like the front end though..
The fact that you saw one in great shape in Europe is really cool.

For the most part cars in the US trended smaller after the 1970's gas crisis, which made efficiency a looked for quality. Add in the fact that several Japanese companies jumped on this with (at the time) better quality and the cars went down in size.
Cars have been much smaller than what you saw for quite some time. The marketing heads though got a lot of folks to switch to trucks and vans to push up profits as truck safety and economy standards are not as strict.

For the environment is certainly a good thing .;)
We Europeans see American cars almost exclusively in films ... so I'm often curious about direct news from american people instead aseptic news. :)
Thanks at everyone.

I have another questions about american car.
I'm a lot curious about on what do you put on the enormous trunk of your car and also which was the big object that you put in the trunk of your actual car.
The TV film (especially action film) don't help much in trying to imagine what is normally placed.

Current cars don't have enormous trunks anymore. That died with the 1970's.
But in the time of the Regal you shot, the trunk was fairly big due to a full sized spare tire, a really big and clunky jack and room to carry groceries from the store......and plenty of room to spare.

I always thought that big trunks are for dead people :) Actually as a kid I was told to look out if there came a American Van (Chevy van) passing slowly, because it could be a kidnapper or a rapist :) American movies teach us a lot of things.
Seriously the trend here in Norway are smaller cars and sad to say smaller engines. 10-15 years ago we had a lot of Chevrolet Suburban on the streets, but now it seems to be more smaller cars.

alessandro,
This is a little different from the car you saw and not something you would likely see in Italy. This is a "Cruise Night" where people bring older cars they've customized to show off. Much money and work is put into the cars.
A small sampling of cars....

I'm impressed by the size of the engines.
Note:
Sometimes in MTV i see the transmission where they take old car and adjust it (pratically they sometimes allow only the original infrastructure while change all the rest!).
