One day my mother-in-law and my wife were cooking some food in the kitchen, while my son was asleep. I felt bored and decided to make a picture or two. The originals didn't come out very good due to my lack of skill and poor lighting in my kitchen. I thought than that maybe some digital manipulation would do pictures some good. Few minutes later I somehow managed to get this one right - it looks very much like all that Soviet propaganda back in the days. :)

I like the candid-ness of the photo..........though I am not too crazy about the conversion.............I would've prefered to see the real colors of those yummy food.

I'd never get away with photographing my family make food. They would steal the camera and make me help them.

The real thing was really boring. That was what started me on the conversion in the first place. But if you insist, you can get the original picture from here (http://mamchenkov.net/photos/2005/2005-05-04_POTD/orig/img_2042.jpg).

Thanks. These are rather regular meat pies. They come in great variety in Russia, Slovenia, Hungary, and other slovenic countries. This is just a variation. :)

True. But propaganda always showed the better side of the story. It also emphasized the working process, especially when groups of two or more people were involved.

Thanks. I know that I'm lucky. It's been amost three years, and I still can't believe I got away with it. ;)
Nice pic.

I had to google for empanadas (http://www.google.com/search?q=define%3A+empanadas) since I didn't know what these are. They are not, but it seems they are very similar. I came across this page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirogi) at Wikipedia (http://www.wikipedia.org) about "Pirogi". :)
