View Full Version : I'm thinking the Crumpler 6MDH will work for me and my gear. Would you agree?

My apologies if there have been too many questions like this in the past, but I have no way of trying this bag out for myself since no one carries them locally.

I recently upgraded from a 300d to a 50d w/ 28-135mm IS and am in need of a new bag. I have been using a Lowepro MX16 to carry the 300d with the 18-55 kit lens, 50mm and a really old 80-200mm lens.

I also have a Sigma 10-20mm and recently bought a Sigma 24-70mm 2.8. So, I will be wanting to carry these along with the 50d/28-135mm. Eventually, I will probably sell the 28-135mm and get something like the Sigma 18-250mm or the Tamron 18-270mm since I need to upgrade on the long end and my wife isn't fond of changing lenses all the time.

I was originally debating between the 5MDH and the 6MDH, but just based off the dimensions, I don't think the 5MDH will be much better than what I have now. Any thoughts on whether the 6MDH will work in my situation? Or, any other bags you might suggest?

Thanks,
Brent

The 5mdh 2009 edition is not big enough. I own a 3+5 and was just about to purchase a 7, but went with a backpack instead.

The 5 will fit my t1i holding 17-55is hood reversed, which is a lot bigger than the 18-55is. The 50mm. The 12-24. I can't fit anything else in this bag. No flash. And not my 4th lens either 55-250.

Everything in my sig + flash will not fit in a 6mdh either, I checked one out at a store. I was going to settle on a 7mdh, but think it's redicilous to carry that much gear in a bag that can only operate as a messenger. Albeit, a stylish one; So I opted for a backpack. If I'm going to carry all the gear that can sqeeze into a 7mhd or backpack, I think it's a better idea for a bag like the 3n1-20 or 30, that can be used as a sling, or backpack. And it also has e ability to carry a few other nicknacks, something the Xmdh bags can NOT do. chargers, cell phone, pda, ipod, water bottle, small tripd, etc.

Good luck on your quest, it's a crazy world - the bag world. I have QUICKLY realized.
