I just stumbled on a short documentary
by Chris Weeks;
Documenting the Human Condition.
It is about shooting street through rangefinders,
and being a street photographer.
I found it very inspiring and motivating,
so thought I'd share with you guys.
If you have 40 minutes, I think it's worth it :)

This is definitely a category of photography I'd like to explore. Thanks for sharing. Will watch the videos later.

Thanks for sharing the link; watched all three parts. Some instructive comments, and it's interesting to check out other folks' techniques and such.
However, the reality is that for many photographers who shoot only digital, a digital rangefinder is cost prohibitive. As such, I wouldn't worry about absorbing all the praise for the rangefinder, which frequently reached pretentious heights.
If you are interested in trying out street photography, grab whatever camera you have and go out and do it.
I say this as someone who is exclusively using a rangefinder now, and I understand the arguments made for the camera. Even so, a person can get excellent results with a DSLR. The more important message made was that on cultivating one's sense of observation, and this can be done without any camera in hand, let alone a rangefinder.
Also, for those who might care, videos made with Canon 5D Mk II.

in effect, the prices of a digital rangefinder such as the Leicas really make someone think twice before getting into the rangefinder's world..
I guess that for street photography amateurs, as well said in the videos, the major obstacle is 'getting close to people'. And with a big dslr in your hands, sometimes you inevitably attract more attention than you want to

This was great, thanks for the link. I wish there were more like this, I love the idea of following the photographer as he shoots and then seeing the photos he's taking in the video.

Agreed, to me the first video started out interesting but then became a Leica commercial. Then the second video started the same way, though it finally veered back to content about street photography.

Yeah, I realized that. Nice bokeh and depth of field in some of the scenes.

This is also something I find intriguing and wish to explore and try, but darn it all, I can't get the video to play. Via a graphical interface I can clearly see bandwidth streaming by at 7.2 mB/sec, but it won't play.
