A little more processing than I'm used to, but I like it on this building... what do you think?

tks,,

Definitely overcooked.

Composition could be better pathway on the right edge is distracting it would have been better if it lead the eye through the scene or perhaps not included in the photo at all.

The whites are blue, yellow is orange...definitely too much PP.

Attractive colors. I miss the part of the building on the right that you cut off. The tiles there are interesting. At first glance, it felt like my eyes were unable to focus. I think it's because of the tree to the left of the lawn sculpture. Either you had movement blur or you had a wide aperture and, therefore, shallow depth of field. My guess is that it's the latter, as the walkway between the buildings and the building on the right also appear somewhat indistinct.

In this setting, you have some whites that are bathed by the warm tones of the setting sun and others that are illuminated by the cold end-of-day blue sky. So I think that one could expect them to be yellow and blue. In fact, it would be impossible to get a white balance that would not also eliminate the striking color contrast that makes this an interesting image. This is a long-winded way of saying that I disagree. Sometimes breaking the rules results in a better image. One just has to know when to break them. In this case, I think the photographer made the right decision.

For me this is just an overcooked HDR. Halos around the trees and the building and the color is just too much. I would suggest either a more subtle use of HDR or try working with a single exposure.

Thank you sir... ;)

HDR has always, and will always be a subjective perspective.. As I stated, this is a little more processing than I'm used to doing, but - this is an interesting building, and - for this photo - I wanted an interesting look... as far as the lighting, you're right - that's what made me run down to the College.. the sun was setting and had this 'gold' glow, and the blues are nothing more than the result of the white portion of the building being shaded by the numerous trees on campus.. The look that I was going for certainly wasn't the clarity and accurate colors that of what the eye could see.. :) .... (What I believe HDR was actually intended for..)

Appreciate the comments - as always ... Just wish that was my home !!

thanks,

Entirely possible..... this was a 9 exposure setting, and since my 450D wont' take 9 in a burst, I had to adjust manually .... was trying not to move the camera on the tripod, but .... :D

+1 on the over saturation.
