im in the market for a scanner to scan my b&w negatives and old family photos. ive decided on one of these two and would like to hear what anybody with experience on them has to say. besides the larger capacity, is there any quality difference? im researching them but i have lots to read. any help would be appreciated.

thanks in advance.

Is there a reason you're not considering the Epson Perfection V500?

I'm sure any of them are fine, but if you have any 120/220 film you'll need to go with the 8800F (or V500). I don't scan anything above 3200 dpi (120) and 4800 dpi (35mm), and the 48 bit depth is more than adequate.

i decided on the 8800f and got it shipped to my doorstep for $152. well see how it performs and whether i think it can do what i want. which is ultimately prints up to 13x19 but mostly smaller than that. 6x9, 8x12 for the most part
