I have B and W coated UV filters on my lenses....they need cleaned. I have the Canon lens fluid and cloth/paper. I know to lightly get the dust off of the filter first, but what else should I know so that I don't mar the surface of the filter or coating...?

I have a Hoya multi-coated filter. I think the best way to clean a multicoated filter(after you blow the dust off with a blower) is to fog it with your breath and wipe in a circular motion with a micro-fiber cloth (or lens tissue I suppose). I think fluid should be a last resort for stubborn grime that just won't come off otherwise.

Best lens cleaner for coated filters I found is Formula MC Cleaner - got mine from 2filter.com for like $3 or 4 per bottle. Use 1 drop of that and a microfiber cloth and they look like they are brand new. Some will say to use soap and water, but that ruins the coating. Other cleaning fluids I found make the filter look worse than it was before it needed cleaned. But this MC cleaner stuff was apparently made for coated filters, and it really does work extremely well.
