Met up with two of my buddies to do a shoot with my newly acquired off-camera lighting. This shoot was merely for practice since I am getting used to this whole lighting thing, but some of them came out pretty well IMO. Let me know what you think!

Single flash?

They look good!

Some need a small amount of sharpening, but other than that, you got the dramatic dark negative space really well.

Two flashes (one camera left, one camera right). Both are about 6' off the ground triggered by Cybersync transmitter/receivers. They are $20 Promaster flashes, but they seem to get the job done until I can afford Alienbees.

Thanks.

Nice Mk5s

Love the RSs.

What are they off of? What size? (sorry to go off topic!)

Nice shots Donders, a few of them do look a little soft, but the first shot of Rui's car is nice, good lighting!

Can you share some lighting information please? (flash positions/power/modifiers)

Here ya go:

The setup last night consisted of my Speedlite 430EX (camera left) and a Promaster flash (camera right) at full power. They were triggered by Cybersync receivers/transmitters. Camera was a Canon Rebel XTi with Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 -- can be seen it setup shot below:

I suggest you rethink the whole off-camera lighting thing & try some using the light that is both better & free? Red cars should look great:

And if you give them half a chance, white cars can, too:

I think you should have shot at f/8.
