Any chance of a 24-105L II?
If so how long does Canon usually wait to release a II version of a lens?
Thanks

I doubt it - I think there are many older lenses in the queue before it. Is there some aspect of it's performance you were hoping would be upgraded soon?

I would doubt it too.
Beyond the crazy barrel distortion at the wide end, I think it is a very good lens. Not my sharpest, but it is on my camera the most for sheer versatility.

Its a very good lens for the price and though it could use some updates I dont think that it will be as that would make it a more expensive "Kit" lens for the 5DII or 5DIII as some people are already talking about.
If they do release an update it will probably go hand in hand with the 5DIII in 2-3 years.
If they did it now they could possibly upgrade these area's.
Newest Hybrid tech IS with 4 stop IS and multi settings
Fastest AF
Better/sharper IQ
9 circular aperture blades
Less distortion
Better Macro distances/mag
And I would love to see this as a F2.8 but that would make it bigger, heavier and more expensive. :( NOT what a kit lens is suppose to be, not even an L kit lens. That would probably also hurt 24-70mm sales as well...

I think Canon should work on some NEW focal length lenses instead of rehashing focal lengths that are already available.
An EF 12/14-24mm f2.8 or f3.5 lens would be nice.
An EF 24-105mm f2.8 or f3.5 L I.S. lens would be nice.
An EF 35-85mm f1.4L would be awesome!
An EF 300-500mm f2.8-4L I.S. lens would be awesome!
(Yes I'm aware that some of these focal lengths are rather far fetched, but hey, it doesn't cost anything to dream)
The current lenses aren't THAT bad that they need to be "refurbished". Let's get some NEW lenses!!

I posted this in another thread as well, but here, from CR:

It's not f/2.8 as many wish for, but still a new version.

What's wrong with version I?

The performance at the wide end stinks. The vignetting and distortion from 24-35mm is quite poor. I would love to see an update with wide end improvements and maybe an updated IS system.

Sure it will! If it is even possible without being huge and extremely expensive.. I guess the 3.5 is a little more believable.

24-105 f/3.5 would work for me.
As I've said before I don't even need it to be 105mm on the long end. If they could push the 24-70 out to something like a 24-90 and add IS I'd be ecstatic. I prefer the IQ (and the reverse zoom action) of the 24-70 but it's just not quite long enough for how I like to shoot.

35-85 1.4 L??? Are you kidding? That thing would be massive, not to mention SUPER expensive. You are combining 3 of the most popular ever L prime lenses in that one lens. 35 L, 50 L, and 85 L. Yea you loose 1.2 on the 50 and 85 but is there a big difference between 1.2 and 1.4? not really.
