View Full Version : Error 01??

I've noticed my D60 & 100-400 a couple of times doing the error 01 thing, each time was during a sequence of shots and observed the mirror/shutter actuation noticably slower when it happened. Have never seen this with the 16-35 and powering off & on clears the error.
Anyone care to comment on wether this is likely to be a lens problem rather than a body?
Thinking along the lines of replacing it with a 20D when funds permit but also eyeing up a 24-70 so wondering wether the D60's time is up...

Have you looked up the error in your manual? It tells you how to solve the problem. "Clean the lens contacts". I've seen people recommend using a pencil eraser, being careful with the bits that come off it.

this is certainly a lens connection problems i suffered this with my 10d and the 100-400 i wonder if it is caused by a "jiggle" when hand held or just the lens bearing on the contact at full length does a hood aggravate this ?

If your combo keeps having difficulty working, I'll be happy to give your 100-400L a good home. :D
Also the 20D is almost half way through it's release life. So what's another 10 months going to do before a new one is out?
(20D, as you know, was my entry DSLR....) - If I already had say a 300D from a year ago, I definately would have invested in better lens, but wanted something to last me the distance from the beginning of this year.)
I would also just give the contacts a good clean.

1DMkIII will definately be my next camera.
Just gotta make sure the 20D stays in one piece. Still no scratches or marks on it. Except LCD has a fine scratch. :(
And 27,550 images.

Wish the 20D had a counter, i've no idea how many i've taken, I use 4 CF cards and the file number got mucked up by using a card from my baby camera, the A70.
Wonder when the Mk3 will be released... I think the 20D will do be fine until then, i'm still learning how to control this one properly, from what i've read the 1D series are a whole new level.

Cheers guys, will try the contact cleaning routine when I get home, if all else fails I'm sure Wazza will swap his 20D for my D60..
