As some of you know, I just bought my first DSLR a couple weeks ago. Until then I have only been a point and shoot kinda person. However getting my EOS 50D and seeing some examples of HDR images has made me very eager to learn as much as I can about my camera, DSLR photography and High Dynamic Range images. Been reading everything I can get my hands on.

Today, I went outside my house to try to learn more about usingh AEB and M mode. I had some problems, (which thanks to krb and wilt I understand why now I believe) but I did get some decent images taken.

This is a picture of the rowboat in my pond. I plopped my butt on the ground to try to get an interesting angle.

This is what I ended up with after I ran I processed it in PhotomatixPro and then played with it a bit in Photoshop CS4

I am really having so much fun! I am excited to go traveling and see what else I can find to shoot now. :D

please give me any advice or criticism. (is that was C&C that I see all the time on here means?) I am just starting out and could use all the help I can get.

Thank you, Jared

congrats on your first hdr. it's a great shot.
it may seem you need a bigger dof. the front of the boat is a bit soft and pine above is a bit distracting. other than that. I agree it's a success.

also. try to play with highligh/shadow in photoshop. it should help the trees tone down a bit and see if the overalll image iis to your liking

thank you very much for the advice.

so you are saying I need to raise my Aperature? say from like 5 to 8? Is that what you mean by "bigger"?
