Hi folks,

Regarding the repeating flash mode of the old Nikon SB's (I've got an SB-28 and an SB-28DX) - for some reason, the power is limited to 1/8th. I'm pretty sure I've had it firing at higher power than that before - does anybody know if there's something I'm doing wrong? (I've had a look in the manual but it seems a bit scant).

Also, according to the manual, there's an FP mode for faster sync, but I've not been able to access it.... It says in the manual that if I keep hitting either + or -, it will cycle through all the power settings and one of the settings is FP mode - or something to that effect...... I just can't get it to turn on though - the FP symbol never lights up on the unit......

Any advice is welcomed with open arms!!

Thanks,

Leo

I am curious about the FP mode as well. I want to buy a couple as off camera manual light and think I'd like to have FP mode as an option. Some lighting expertise would be nice! Grace us with your wisdom.

The SB-900 flash has a max output level of 1/8, too, when set to repeating flash mode. And that makes sense, if you think about it. If you could set the flash to 1/1 in repeating flash mode, it would only fire once before it had to recycle itself and that could hardly be called repeating. ;)

Yeah, I've been thinking about this in a logical way - I must've been daydreaming when I thought the flash was firing at high power in repeat mode.

A new question, however, is getting the repeat flash mode to work with radio triggers as the only way I've seen that it will actually repeat (instead of flashing just once) is by holding the button down manually on the flash body itself!

Hey Leo,

Sorry to hi-jack a little, but is it possible to use the SB-28 in FP mode off camera? It would be nice to go above the sync speed and still get flash light. Thanks for any help!
