I had a B1600 and 2 elinchrom dlite2's plugged into my V2 (using a splitter, not surge protector or power strip), when i test fired, the vagabond died. (never had a problem with this setup before). i turned it back on and it seemed dead so i charged it over night. this morning i took it to a shoot, when i turned it on, nothing happened. i checked the inline 40 amp fuse and it was blown. i bought a pack of fuses and replaced it. now as soon as i flip the switch to either Slow or Fast, the fuse blows (tried it 3 times).

any ideas what to do? i called customer service but the only tech person that could help me wasn't in today. i'm in a bit of a bind because i need this working by wednesday and i couldn't even get an answer from them as to if i would need to send it in or not.

one thing that's weird, the vagabond 2 manual from the site shows 2 30 amp fuses attached to the inverter. mine doesn't have that, just the single inline 40 instead. it's not even a year old.

It's still under warrantee.... Just talk to Joe in the morning and arrange for them to ship a new one. Sounds like a internal issue.

try using only the 1600 i think u may be overloading the unit but then again I don't know

Yup, if the fuse keeps blowing your overloading it.

Smell it and if there is even a faint hint of electrical burn (burnt plastic smell) this might indicate a Rectifier Diode went bad because you overloaded it.

If it is blowing the fuse with no load on the inverter there is definately a problem. Call customer support.

If you call customer support I wouldn't mention that you were were using it w/ the d-lites as it was not designed to work w/ digital strobes and could void the warranty.

just got off the phone with Joe. super nice guy! i told him the problem and that i'm in a bit of a rush to have it by wednesday. he's shipping me a loaner vagabond for $10 that i'll have by tuesday. when i get that, i put my unit in the box and ship it back for repair. then we swap again when i get my unit back. so the whole time i won't be without a vagabond! awesome service!
