Well I'm hopping some one can tell me if they have done NYIP course and what they think of it. I thought about getting a degree. But I have decided not to do that.I figure I could do there course and still get what I want out of it. But before I give them my money. I want to see if anyone out there has had experiences with them.

Yes they are pretty good, NYI stays with you and help you. Your read the stuff and make sure you do the best on the photo asigments for they can tell you what you did wrong if so and how to fix it. They have a digital course right now. Plus they have easy payment plan that helps out. If you need to ask any more I here...

I'm doing this course right now. I would rate it as "ok" so far but I just recently started it so hopefully it will get more in depth as the lessons progress. Fairly basic info but well done in terms of presentation. You get the "books", 2 instructors that talk about the info in the book and then that is back up again in video form. Very laid-back, conversational style which I like.

The big turn off for me is that the information is somewhat dated and the images in the books are VERY dated even though the last set I just got say "updated 2005". They really need to redesign their materials. It is completely film based which is fine as the basics of photography stay the same no matter what, I suppose.

I paid $650 total after waiting a while. If you order brochures from them they will eventually send you a discount offer which will save you a few hundred $$$. The course has gotten good reviews from Popular Photography and on online forums such as this one. I think the Digital course is mainly a Photoshop course, not a photography course.

I was going to post the same question. I'm glad to see NYIP is getting good reviews. I plan on starting it here pretty soon.

I took the NYI course 13 years ago, and have nerver regretted it. I can't tell you what it's like today, but it was well worth it at that time. I've owned my own photo business since than, and with the advent of digital, it is a never ending learning game, and NYI gets you going in the right Direction.:lol:
