Well I have been messing with my site learning new tricks and what not

http://www.801images.com/801images/

Some jquery stuff has been added to the site. the boxes are able to be moved and there is an accordion and tabs. There are also little pop up boxes with information.

As you can see this is not a finished site and more of an experimental type deal, but I would still like to hear from ya on it

That's not a very nice effect, man, it's kind of tacky. You have some great images in your latest work section, it's a shame that you have to wait for the painfully long transitions between images.

My very humble opinion is that the site is pretty crap and the current one you have in your signature is far superior in every way.

There was a little delay, but the quality was great in my opinion.:D

Matt,

You know I've been a fairly harsh critic of your current website and your previous CSS framework attempt. So take it for what it's worth, but I quite like this approach.

This test page has a great visual "pop" factor, and looks great out of the box (slight minus points for the lower box maybe). THIS is a great photographers site, IMHO!

I'm not a huge fan of JavaScript and usually run NoScript. So the fact that there's no real "no javascript" alternative may turn some people off, but I realize I'm far in the minority there.

It would be nice if recent work would "just work" and maybe show in that window right there.

If you were to decide to forget about JavaScript and code the site in CSS with that layout and awesome background, you'd have an absolute winner there. But even in it's current form, I think it looks great, is unique and easy enough to use.

Thumbs up!

On the tab area at the lower right of the main page, the first tab has content that is a different width and it causes the entire page to shift around when you select different tabs. I'm using IE8, btw.

Ken,

Hmm, I tried it on IE8 on a windows 7 laptop and it was fine.

What OS are you running and screen resolution?

int2str,

No worries :) critic or not it helps me know what people think. I like the layout, not sure I am a fan of the current menu system...Going to continue to work on it though...

This machine is winXP, IE8, 1280x1024 resolution

ETA: I see the issue. The about tab is longer and makes the bottom of the page extend off the screen so a vertical scroll bar appears on the left. Since the body is centered it is shifting over to account for the changed page width. I have an extra toolbar in my browser so the content window is just a little bit shorter, otherwise it would fit fine and I'd never see the issue.

Ken,

Can you take a screen shot of it? If not no worries

Emailed to msauk@mac.com. BTW, I notice that you have the menu stuff set to be draggable. Works good for playing around with where to position things, just bear in mind that it prevents people from being able to highlight text. I noticed it when I tried to copy/paste the email address from the text in the information item.

perfect, got the email Ken.

I think in the end I am going to try another menu system and content delivery. I like the background and layout, just not really liking the menu system
