Kind of. I am from South London originally, but live in China now. How come? Where are you from?

Another one for the 'please update your profile' comment, then everyone can see where you are from. You will find lots of southern jessies on here. We tough northerners know who each other are and keep an eye on the southerners. :) :)

I've lived in Kent before. ;)

But I probably don't remember too much.

I would like to go back for a year or two sometime soon.

Well I am a southern softy on the coast near the Isle Of Wight.
I only asked because the forum appears to be dominated by life across the pond.
Its probably been done before but, If people could muster the enthusiasm, pictures could be posted that say something about where they live, you know, London Eye, Angel of the North, Lands End that sort of thing.

Hi, Firstly for our friends in the north there is no such thing as southern softy.

Nowdays you can find them anyplace from lands end to J 'O' G.

How do I no this? well I am originaly from the town of Brighton & have lived since leaving there in Scotlands fab West coast, also on the east coast for a short time,
now live in the first city in England, CARLISLE (well that's what it says on all the sign posts). Left Brighton over 30 years ago but do visit now and again.
Must admit though that can't wait to retire to warmer & dryer place.

Yeah! the UK 15 hours once a year summer leaves a bit to be desired.

I'll wager you have some fine landscape shots from the Scottish coast.
I personally would love to see them.
I would like to post some of my pictures but I use a works internet line and am not too good with all the technobabble involved posting stuff.

I'm with Ken on this - the sooner we have visas for the jessies who wish to come up North past the Watford Gap the better :) ;) :) ;)

From South London I would love to us in the south if we come up north. From Bolton I you would then need a visa to head to London. Seems fair!!:rolleyes::eek:;)

I'd never have time to get my visa stamped - I'd be too busy on border patrol looking out for illegal southerners attempting to get out of 'The Smoke' (like you did) to the wonderful north ;) ;) ;)

Used to live in Greenwich, then Nottingham, then back to Greenwich. Then one day I woke up and I was in Sacra-smegging-mento. I mean what the hell, must of eaten some bad mexican food (and in England there isn't any other kind but bad mexican food). So here I am now 7 years later, happily getting tanned in the mid 90's Sacramento weather, and I can't find a decent curry.

Live in England, no good mexican food
Live in California, no good curry.

But the curry won't be up to his standards. :p

How about greasy fish and chips?
Much better Snapper and real fish in New Zealand. And can't get nicer lamb.

I spend time in most parts of the UK, which is a bit like saying you have a friend who is gay so you don't appear homophobic. I have worked out what the south means to me as a northerner - Heathrow. Yup, that's the big draw to the south for most of us in the north. By north I don't mean Birmingham. The BBC think its north, but you know how good they are with maps.

Now we have Robin Hood airport which means we can stay north of Watford if we want to use big jets. Robin Hood airport has bands of people that waylay you and part you from your wordly posessions. Now, what are they called, merry men, no that's not right ...... got it - customs officials.

I lived in Essex for over 20 years, Bedfordshire for about 6, and Norfolk for about 10.

Trouble is, I used to visit the Scottish Highlands for holidays, loved it so much that I moved there. The true North!! Only about 45 miles from John O'Groats.

Duty visits south only now :D :D

I moved west, started off in SE London then when I was 14 we moved to Bucks. I then spent 3 years at college in Leicestershire and then we moved to Devon. I stayed here but my parents kept going and ended up near St Mawes in Cornwall.

About half my family is in New Zealand. When I manage to save up enough to go visit I'll make sure to get some fish and chips. :)

It's always hard to save when you see that Canon logo.

Fish and chips from a beachside town are the best. It is SO fresh, you could almost see the fish moving still..

At risk of de-railing this thread, I'd just like to chime in that I'm from Dundee, Scotland but live in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Anyone as far north as this?

When I lived in London I began in Richmond Upon Thames. After that I moved to live in Kensington, from there I ended up in Clerkenwell area and finally Paddington. Gotta say I really enjoyed Richmond in the summertime. Beautiful place. Kensington wasn't too bad. Clerkenwell was fun as it was so darn central. Paddington too. I loved jumping on the bus to get into Piccadilly Circus and Soho.

And gosh, Indian food. I miss it so much! Mmmm... And China town... Eh, and Nando's. LOL
Anyone know a decent restaurant that serves fish in London? I've tried to find it, but haven't. I've seen ONE sea food restaurant in central London.

Yup, I spent yesterday enjoying the sunshine in Richmond park. Wonderful :D

Funny you mention it, I've had exactly the same trouble (I LOVE seafood). I have spotted a couple on the south bank near the old vic, but haven't managed to try them out yet.

Sunny Manchester, and it's actually been pretty sunny this weekend.
