Spent last weekend over in Cumbria for the 2005 Pirelli International Rally, there was a spectator super special on the Friday night which I don't usually bother with but decided to go this year and glad I did and then into Kielder forest on the Saturday, here are some shots from the event.

All taken with Canon 1DMKII and 70-200f2.8Lis lens

Tapio Laukkanen takes the watersplash

Steve Perez emerges from the watersplash

Barry Clark landing after one of the jumps

One of the mad army Land Rovers tries to get airbourne

Paul Bird on opposite lock in Kielder

Another of the Land Rovers from a lower perspective

Hope you like them, any comments or criticisms welcome

Cheers

Great shots Ian. Particularly like the Paul Bird shot.

Where was the super special held? Was it in Carlisle again? Looks like Rickerby Park but I doubt that.

Excellent shots Ian. Particularly like the water spash shots. Glad you were able to avoid the dreded red and white tape at the super special!

Cheers,

Simon.

Hi Ian. Birdy has had some wheels this last few years. Makes a change from the track stuff. Lovely shots, takes me back to my younger days (and yes, I do have a good memory).

Love number one

Also number three I know he is just landing but that is almost what you call hitting the brakes and putting it on it's nose

Thanks :)
The super special PZero was held in Andrew Tinklers back garden (co owner of Eddie Stobart) The house is called Newby Grange just outside of Carlisle and as you can see from this photo the start control was at his front door

and yes, that's his helicopter;)

Thanks Ken, the car Birdy was driving was a loaner from M-Sport as when Matthew Wilson had his big accident on the Welsh he had borrowed Birdy's car:rolleyes: and after he hit the trees at 100mph+ Birdys car was slightly worse for wear

Young Petchy was also out

Aha, that makes sense and I wasn't far off! I'm originally from Carlisle so know that area well. Used to go to school with a few of Eddie Stobarts nephews too.

Having looked at the pics again, the shot of Steve Perez is a cracker. Great water capture. Very nice.
