Which app is best to create a slideshow of images and output as swf for embedding in web pages? Nothing fancy, just the ability to insert transitions between images. Open source would be preferable, but $ OK.

If you know any flash, it's pretty simple to make and there's a million tutorials on it.

I'm happy with SlideShowPro, I think it was around $30, and it's plenty customizable. I have the Lightroom version.

Thanks. I used to know flash, along about MX 4 I think it was. Forgot a lot, and the learning curve and time spent would be way to long for a simple job. I just want to drag and drop a few images into an app and drag a few transitions in between them.

Thanks! I'll take a look at it. After making the post, I also ran across something named Swish Max. I'll compare the two.

You may also want to consider Proshow, it outputs as a Flash movie... SSP is a pretty good extension once you tie it into Director.

Thanks. Appreciate your reply and suggestions. I'm not really trying to create a gallery. I'm trying to create a flash slideshow (or any slideshow other than an animated GIF) that would fit into a table cell on a web page.

I used to use Swish (pre-Max) all the time. It is very easy to use. I use ProShow Gold now and it works ok. I hear ProShow Producer is great, too. Do you have Adobe Bridge? There is an output option in Bridge CS4.

I like auto/simple/postcard viewer depending on the photos. Also a +1 for SSP.

Nope. Have CS2 here, and stopped using Bridge because ACR will not render the 5D MKII files, so I use DPP for RAW conversions.

I'll look into ProShow and Producer.

I'm rethinking the flash slideshow thing altogether. Every time I go to a website, I hit stop on slideshows so I can view at my pace. I'm thinking that a html pop-up window with NEXT / PREVIOUS buttons may be more user friendly.

Keep in mind that almost everyone has pop-up blockers on their browsers. I'd create a slideshow that is manual by default and have the option to play it. I'm like you. I like seeing the pictures at my pace. Some I skip over quicker than others.
